Broadcom drivers

Broadcom made the Wi-Fi and Ethernet chips of a whole laptop generation: BCM43xx wireless in Dell, HP and Acer machines of the 2000s and 2010s, NetXtreme and NetLink wired adapters on desktops. Broadcom offers no consumer downloads on its own site, so the last released packages are collected here from official channels.

About Broadcom drivers

The BCM4311 and BCM4306 wireless families alone account for over a hundred versions - these cards surface whenever an old but healthy laptop gets a clean Windows install and the Wi-Fi vanishes. The last driver released for the card usually installs fine even on a Windows newer than the card itself.

On the wired side, a NetXtreme or NetLink port showing error code 28 after a reinstall just needs its driver put back. If several adapters look alike, the Hardware ID (PCI\VEN_14E4 on Broadcom) narrows it to the exact controller.
