Samsung SCX-4300 driver for Windows 11 and 10

The SCX-4300 is a laser printer-scanner from 2008 that still does its job. Finding its driver got strange though: Samsung sold its printer business to HP in 2017 and removed the downloads from its own site, and digging them out of HP's site is a quest of its own. The last packages Samsung released are in our catalog - they usually install on Windows 11 through the manual path.

Why this happens

  • Samsung's printer downloads moved to HP after the 2017 sale - old links and old habits lead nowhere.
  • Windows 11 carries no built-in driver for a 2008 device.
  • Printing and scanning are two separate drivers - installing one does not bring the other.

Quick checks first

1Rule out the simple things

The printer is on, no blinking error lights, the USB cable is seated on both ends. A minute here saves half the “driver” cases.

2See how Windows shows it

Press Win+X → Device Manager - the list of every device Windows sees. The SCX-4300 may appear under “Printers”, or as an unknown device if the driver is missing entirely.

If the machine is healthy but Windows cannot drive it, what is missing is the last driver Samsung released - the catalog page below leads to it.

Fixing it manually

Install the last Samsung package

  1. Open the Samsung SCX-4300 page in our catalog - the last packages Samsung released, from the official source.
  2. Run the installer. If Windows 11 refuses: Device Manager → the device → Update driver → “Browse my computer for drivers”.
  3. Print a test page.

Bring scanning back separately

  1. If pages print but the scanner is “not found”, install the scanner part of the package - it is a separate driver.
  2. Test with the built-in Windows Scan app (free in the Microsoft Store if missing).

Know the exact device model?

Search the catalog by the model - Samsung SCX-4300 - or by the Hardware ID from Device Manager.

The model name is on the front panel. Over USB the device also reports a Hardware ID - the code that identifies it even without a readable label (Device Manager → Properties → Details → Hardware Ids).

Try for example: Samsung SCX-4300 · read the Hardware ID guide · or browse the driver category

Frequently asked questions

▸Why are there no drivers on Samsung's site anymore?

Samsung sold its printer division to HP in 2017. Whatever new versions exist live in HP's support channels; the originals Samsung released are collected here.

▸It prints, but it does not scan.

Printing and scanning run on two different drivers. Install the scanner part of the package and the scanner side comes back.

▸Is it compatible with Windows 11?

Officially it was never declared - Windows 11 did not exist when the last driver shipped. In practice the last package usually installs through Device Manager's manual path and works.
